I wanted to share with you some of the progress pics of my first canvas for 2019. It's my first ever Tree of Life. It's been something that I have had floating around the back of my head for quite some time now, but never let myself put it onto canvas until now.
So what prompted me to do it now? Well, to be honest, I have been invited to teach another workshop north to where we live in Rockhampton, in a town called St Lawrence. I first was invited out last year where I met with a group of 20 beautiful woman, from various backgrounds, who were all looking for an opportunity to sit amongst like minded women and create.
During the process I could see all the different friendships. I could feel these lovely ladies energy as they all worked together, supporting each other and cheering each other on. So when I was invited to return, I jumped at the chance! I can't wait to be back out amongst them.
Now with that said. This town of strong women have had it really rough for quite a few years. Some have witnessed loss greater than I could imagine. I believe that creating a tree of life for themselves will be transformative. I know for myself it has been.
And while I am still working on finishing my tree (images to come in next post), I thought I would share one of the most important steps I have done in beginning this piece, is to write the names down of people who are dear to me who have passed away. Some of whom I have never met in this life. And then I wrote a message to them, thanking them for a myriad of things. I have made sure to write them very loosely as they are my messages to them and not for others.
Doing this has been so therapeutic. It has allowed me to connect with this piece of work so much more. I hope you are all as excited as I am to see how it all turns out!
